Call for Papers

The combined 51st and 52nd Annual Conference on African Linguistics will be held at the University of Florida from April 8-11th, 2021. ACAL welcomes papers on any area of African Linguistics for paper or poster presentations. Paper presentations will be 20 minutes long with 10 minutes for questions.

Papers or posters that were accepted for ACAL 51 at Rutgers may be presented at ACAL 51-52. Presenters should notify the conference organizers by Nov 13th to confirm their intent to present an accepted paper.

Deadline

*Deadline extended* The deadline for new submissions is November 13th, 2020, 11:59 pm Eastern Standard Time. Abstracts will be subject to blind review.

Abstract Guidelines

All abstracts must be written in English and must not exceed 500 words, including any data. Non-English language data should include interlinear glosses following the Leipzig Glossing Rules. The 500-word abstract should be single-spaced and in a Unicode font no smaller than 11 point, and in .pdf or .doc/.docx format.

Submission Instructions

All abstracts must be submitted through our EasyAbs conference site found here. Submissions are restricted to one single-authored paper and one co-authored paper per individual. This includes submissions accepted for ACAL 51. Submitters from Africa will be notified of acceptance by December 8th, 2020. Others will be notified by January 7th, 2021. Accepted presenters will have the option to present virtually if travel and safety are impacted due to COVID 19.

*We currently plan to have ACAL 51-52 partially online for international participants and in person for domestic participants and those who can travel to Gainesville. We will make a decision by the end of 2020 about whether the conference needs to be completely online*
