Language is at the center of everything human, including thought, identity, culture, technology, and connection. At UF Linguistics, we study language from every angle: how it’s structured, how the brain processes it, how it varies across communities, and how it can be documented, modeled, and taught. With faculty expertise spanning theoretical linguistics, computational linguistics, psycholinguistics, sociolinguistics, and language acquisition, backed by multiple active research labs and strong interdisciplinary connections, we offer one of the most comprehensive linguistics programs in the Southeast.
